Ahed Tamimi Campaign Updates

There isn’t enough scorn to go around the circle of bad actors in the West Bank.  RINJ CEO

“Nothing that Ahed Tamimi has done can justify the continuing detention of a 16-year-old girl. The Israeli authorities must release her without delay. In capturing an unarmed teenage girl’s assault on two armed soldiers wearing protective gear, the footage of this incident shows that she posed no actual threat and that her punishment is blatantly disproportionate,” said Magdalena Mughrabi, Deputy Director for the Middle East and North Africa at Amnesty International.

The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest

The RINJ Foundation Women protest the reprisals against children in the Israeli-Occupied Palestinian West Bank

For too long women have not been heard or believed says Oprah Winfrey.

The RINJ Foundation women
say they have met a girl born 30 March, 2001 who will make sure she is heard.

Some observers of recent events in Israeli-occupied territories like Uri Avnery  of  Haaretz Israel News have likened Ahed Tamimi eloquently to Joan of Arc while the Toronto-based RINJ Foundation women’s group see her in much the same light as author Stieg Larsson saw his character Lisbeth stirring up the establishment in favour of righting some serious wrongs and bringing about correction of injustice. That’s Ahed Tamimi, and what she has been doing since she was 10 years old. Ahed certainly has kicked up a hornet’s nest.

(01/15/2018)  Update from Toronto – The RINJ Foundation Women, a Civil Society women’s group based in Toronto, Ontario Canada has released several criticisms of Israel related to what the group calls the wrongful imprisonment of the sixteen-year-old Palestinian girl Ahed Tamimi.

The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest

The RINJ Women’s group also claims it learned about a silent edict which has been issued to Israeli Occupation Forces in the Israeli occupied Palestinian settlements of the West Bank to conduct reprisals on women and children for the ongoing demonstrations against Donald Trump’s announcement that the US is declaring Jerusalem as the Capital of Israel and moving its embassy there.

In a report published by The RINJ Foundation from the Middle East two days ago, the women’s group says “this child has not committed a crime. She has acted in self defence by slapping a trespassing soldier at her home, in his face, pursuant to numerous and continuing attacks and harassment on herself and her family including younger siblings. She has the right to resist the occupation soldiers invading her home, especially when they are there for wrongful purpose. Read the Geneva Convention amendments. She has the right to do that.”

Long ago, it was settled that resistance and even armed struggle against a colonial occupation force is not just recognised under international law but specifically endorsed.

In accordance with international humanitarian law, wars of national liberation have been expressly embraced, through the adoption of Additional Protocol I (Volume 1125) to the Geneva Conventions of 1949 (pdf), as a protected and essential right of occupied people everywhere.  – Stanley L. Cohen

The World Ignored Israel’s Brutal Occupation of Palestine

In the West, journalists and politicians have dismissed Palestinian claims of human rights abuses in the Israeli Occupied Territories, for decades.

On 30 March, 2001, that global ignorance was destined to change with the birth of a girl child Ahed whom many today are acclaiming as the Palestinian equivalent of “Joan of Arc”,  a heroine of France, loved for her role during the Lancastrian phase of the Hundred Years’ War, and canonized as a Roman Catholic saint.

We wonder if Ahed Tamimi‘s parents told her of the famous Yasser Arafat quote:

“In order to obtain the goal of returning to Palestine, all of us sometimes have to grit our teeth.”

A 14 Year Old Kid was Shot in the Face – so a Millennial Girl Kicked The Hornets Nest

Last December, sixteen year old Ahed Tamimi slapped and kicked an Israeli Occupation Forces soldier who was on her property. She was upset her brother was in a coma. Today the Israeli government is trying to lock this kid in a prison for her entire life.

Shortly before this event, Mohammed Tamimi was shot at close rangein the village of Nabi Saleh in the occupied West Bank on Friday, according to witnesses. Ahed was overwhelmed with grief.

Alistair Burt, minister of state for the Middle East at Great Britain`s Foreign & Commonwealth Office, spoke out in defence of Ahed Tamimi, whose family he said he knows personally.

“The truth is the soldiers shouldn’t have been there and the young woman shouldn’t have needed to do what she did,” said Burt.

“We should be working hard to get a settlement for this issue so that these young people don’t have to continue to do what they’re doing.” The Right Honourable Alistair Burt

RINJ Women’s Group Also Slam Palestinian Men For Using Kids As Soldiers

The Israeli Occupation Forces hurt children and women as a retaliation for demonstrations against the Israeli occupation.  Bassem al-Tamimi knows this to be true.

Bassem al-Tamimi has been using his children as front line soldiers in the resistance to the Israeli occupation of Palestine. If anyone deserves jail time it might be him. Children are not to be used as soldiers of any kind.

Ahed Tamimi has been an activist child since a very young age at the behest of her father, Bassem al-Tamimi. This, RINJ has deplored in the past.  Bassem al-Tamimi is just as misogynistic and irresponsible as are the Israeli soldiers who have been harassing the Tamimi family and who killed Ahed’s cousin on January second.

Ahed’s mother who acquiesces to the father’s wrong-minded enlistment of his children, Nariman al-Tamimi, was arrested mid-December last year. Bassem al-Tamimi is free. The Israeli occupation forces are targeting the Palestine women and children with intent. This is in violation of the International Criminal Court’s Rome Statute.

The Women’s Group Tells Israel it Must Cease its Targeting of Women and Children for Reprisals against Peaceful Demonstrations

Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

The nation state of Israel has absolute power over the Palestinians since 1967. In recent years, if not for longer, it has come to abuse its power over the Palestinians systemically and with an apparent air of impunity.

Friends of Israel must warn the State that it has gone too far in targeting women and children for abuse. Recent events have turned this situation volatile and persecuting children is far beyond what is acceptable conduct.
